সাধারণত অতীতের কোনো action অথবা event যদি পরস্পর সম্পর্কিতভাবে ঘটে সেক্ষেত্রে model verb হিসেবে 'would have' ব্যবহৃত হয়। এক্ষেত্রে would have..... if ...... structure নিম্নরূপে- sub + would have + past participle form of verb + if + 2nd sub + had + past participle from of verb + .... যেমন --- What would have happend if I had seen the advertisement in time? প্রদত্ত sentence এ ‘What would have happened if the bridge had broken’ দ্বারা বোঝানো হয়েছে তারা ব্রিজটা সহজেই পেরিয়ে এসেছে। কিন্তু যদি ভেঙ্গে পড়ত তাহলে কি ঘটত? হয়তো তারা অনেকেই আহত হতো। কিন্তু কিছুই ঘটেনি।
